Family Holiday Favorite Returns to RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium
Rochester, NY—Give your holiday spirit a boost at the Rochester Museum & Science Center's fun family laser show, Holiday Songs and Skies with Mr. Jack Frost, opening at the Strasenburgh Planetarium on Saturday, November 21 at 11:30am. Shows are scheduled on weekends and school holidays through Sunday, January 3, 2010. Check show times and purchase tickets online at www.rmsc.org, or call (585)271-1880 for recorded show information.
The show lasts about 45 minutes and is recommended for all ages. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and college students with ID, $8 for children and teens (ages 3–18). RMSC members save $1 on each admission.
In this combined laser and star show, Mr. Frost (voice-over narrator) conducts a tour of the constellations of winter, sprinkled with astronomical "did-you-knows." Along the way he trades corny space jokes with his sidekick Ed, and introduces well-loved holiday songs of broad appeal, choreographed to colorful laser light.
The show features music from the festive, public side of the holiday season. Songs include "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson, "Winter" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, "All I Want for Christmas" by Mariah Carey, "I Love the Winter Weather" by Tony Bennett, and an exciting finale with selections by Mannheim Steamroller and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Along with musical selections, Mr. Frost introduces some of the most prominent stars and constellations of the season, including Orion, Sirius, Taurus, the Pleiades and Cassiopeia, using the magnificent indoor sky created by the Zeiss star projector.
This unique family entertainment is a holiday must-see—only in Rochester!
