MAPLE SUGARING WEEKENDS
Saturday & Sunday: March 20–21 and March 27–28
Explore the science and lore of maple syrup production with youth and adult volunteer guides during the last two weekends of March. Take a walk along the Pioneer Trail and explore the impact that humans have had on the land. Sample 100% pure maple syrup at the sugar house, then return to the Visitor Center for a hot pancake meal.
Sugaring Demonstrations: 10am–3pm
Pancake Meals served: 9am–1pm
MEAL PRICES:
Adult $10 -- 5 pancakes, 2 sausages
Child (ages 3–12) -- 3 pancakes, 1 sausage
*Extra pancakes at no additional cost
RMSC members save $1 on each meal.
All meals include choice of beverage and pure maple syrup.

WILDLIFE DEFENDERS
11am & 1:30pm on two Saturdays, March 20 & 27
Meet wildlife ambassadors and their animal friends at special presentations in the nature center's Riedman Theater.
Headquartered in Canandaigua, Bridges for Brain Injury Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that provides services for adults with acquired and traumatic brain injury. Wildlife Defenders is a fully operational, licensed and USDA approved wildlife conservation outreach effort conducted by the organization's members, who are certified to handle and house more than 37 species of exotic and native wildlife.
Meet the animals, learn about wildlife conservation, and find out about brain injuries and the importance of safety and prevention practices.
GUIDED NATURE WALKS ON APRIL WEEKENDS

Sundays in April: 1pm–3pm
Take a three-mile walk with a nature center guide through a variety of habitats to discover signs of spring.

THE FROG CHORUS
Frogs and Amphibians of the Finger Lakes
Saturday, April 10, 1pm–3pm
Presented by the Naples Library
What is making that peep? That quack? That strange sound out there? The little-known and seldom seen frogs of the Finger Lakes Region are our first harbingers of springtime songs. Come learn about the fascinating lives of the amphibians who share the area we call home.
We'll learn to identify frogs by song as well as sight, have fun learning, and meet a special frog guest. Then we'll head out on the trail to discover these first signs of the season at year-round and ephemeral ponds.
Dress for the weather and wear waterproof walking shoes!

WILDERNESS WALK
Saturday, April 17: 10am–2pm
Take a hike off the beaten path with nature center director Dave Gotham. Explore areas of the property not usually accessible to the public and discover fascinating tales of the region's history. See the impact that humans have made on the area. Bring a lunch to enjoy along the trail.

SERENDIPITY WALK
Two Saturdays, May 1 and May 22: 11am–2pm
Explore the nature center's variety of habitats and terrain with naturalist Shariee Edersheim as she leads you to areas of the property not usually accessible to the public. Bring a lunch and proper footwear for wet areas.

ALIENS IN THE BACKYARD!
Sunday, May 9: 1pm–3:30pm
Join Nicole Landers, graduate student from SUNY-ESF, to learn about non-native plants and insects that have been found in our state and surrounding areas. Learn how to identify these species and how they may be managed. Find out how invasive species may impact native species and ecological processes as Landers leads you through various ecosystems within the nature center.

SENIOR SOJOURN
Wednesday, May 12: 11am–12pm
Enjoy spring at Cumming Nature Center with our own Senior, naturalist Shariee Edersheim. Mrs. E will take you on an informative and easy hour-long walk to mravel at the spectacular signs of spring. Bring a lunch if you like, and stay for a nature film in the Riedman Theater.
Admission $3. Free for RMSC members.
