Students take a seat in a state-of-the-art Be the Dinosaur™ Simulator Pod and become a dinosaur, exploring the most complex and far reaching restoration of dinosaurs and their environment ever created. Living the role of a dinosaur, students will have to learn what food to eat, how and where to find it, when to drink, etc.—or they will fail to survive.

Be The Dinosaur™ is designed so that the more time students spend exploring the label panels and interactives in the physical exhibit, the more they will learn to help them survive longer in the simulation experience. More time spent absorbing the lessons presented on Amber Pillars, Rock Formation stations, in the Field Station, and at other physical exhibit components will equip students to perform well in the simulation. Students who ignore these traditional elements are challenged by the simulation, and prompted to seek out the required knowledge via the icon system.

Along the way, students will learn about their environment, the plants, animals and insects that share it, and the relationships among them in an accurate, hands-on interactive world. Back in the dinosaur world, they will explore the mysteries and theories of dinosaur behavior, find and communicate with others in their herd, cooperate in defense, use their sense of smell to find food and other animals, and more.
A space designed specifically for young learners by staff from the RMSC and RMSC Preschool will engage children grades PreK-2 in ways that allow them to participate in role-play to Be the Dinosaur™.
As students travel to Meet the Dinosaur they come face to face with some giants of the Jurassic Period. You and your students will step foot back in time — and into the primordial swamp — where they will encounter towering, roaring half-sized animatronic Stegosaurus, Dimetrodon, and a mother Apatosaurus protecting her newly hatched babies. Take your students beyond the bones through a primordial swamp to see how these prehistoric creatures may have looked, and sounded, when they roamed the earth millions of years ago.
