Bats
Available for Grades PreK-2
maximum of 30 students
Students discover bats' important role in our ecosystem through role-playing, hands-on objects, and demos.
A1; ELA: 1, 4 ; MST: 4LE(1,5,6)
Dinosaurs
Available for Grades PreK-2
maximum of 30 students
Our esteemed paleontologist, Dr. L. Berta Saurus, arrives with fun, facts, and questions. Students learn about and "create" fossils, take part in a mock dig, and role-play as dinosaurs to explore how these creatures moved, ate, and defended themselves.
A1 ; CDOS: 1, 2 ; ELA: 1, 4 ; MST: 4LE(1,3,6)
Insects
Available for Grades PreK-2
maximum of 30 students
Students become dragonflies, bees, and crickets while learning about insect anatomy, eating habits, and communication.
A1 ; ELA: 1, 4 ; MST: 4LE(1,5,6)
Solids, Liquids and Gases
Available for Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
Witness the amazing effects of Liquid Nitrogen (-196°C)! Learn how temperature affects energy and changes matter from solid to liquid to gas. Amazement turns to understanding as students explore and predict outcomes of experiments.
CDOS: 1, 2 ; ELA: 1, 4 ; HPEHE: 2
MST: 1(1,2), 4PS(2,3,4,5), 5(2), 6(2,3,4,5)
The Science of Music
Available for Grades PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8
maximum of 30 students
Explore the science of sound and music! Play an eight-foot long trombone, and listen to a stereo through your chin. This interactive program introduces students to the distinct vibrations made by percussion, brass, and woodwind instruments. Students learn about the energy and motion of sound waves and how different materials give instruments their unique sounds.
A: 1, 2 ; ELA: 1 ; MST: 1(1, 2), 4PS(3, 4, 5), 5(2), 6(3)
What Is an Experiment?
Available for Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8
Engage in a mix of hands-on experiments and interactive demos. Students will ask questions, make observations, develop theories, predict outcomes, and devise a pathway to problem solving.
CDOS1 ; ELA: 1, 4 ; MST: 1(1,2), 4PS(2,3,4,5), 5(2), 6(2,3,4,5)
Electricity
Available for Grades 4-5, 6-8, 9-12
Electrify your class with hands-on experiments and demonstrations that help explain atoms and their role in electric currents. Our 400,000-volt Van de Graaff generator will make this a truly hair-raising experience!
ELA: 1, 4 ; MST: 1(1,2), 4PS(2,3,4,5), 5(2), 6(1,2,3,4,5), 7(1)
Energy
Available for Grades 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
Explore and compare different kinds of energy. Students interact with our education staff, investigating light, electricity, heat, and sound using examples from everyday life such as driving a car, riding a bike, heating a home, or even sitting still!
CDOS: 1, 2 ; ELA: 1, 4 ; HPEHE: 2
MST: 1(1,2), 4PS(2,3,4,5), 5(2), 6(1,2,3,5), 7(1)
Journey into Space
Available for Grades 4-5, 6-8
maximum of 30 students
Discover the vacuum that is space and the planets that make up our solar system. Through demonstrations students will compare the atmospheres of the planets—how they differ from our own, and how some are similar. Explore the different climates on other planets. Students will experience hands-on alternative energy methods and some of the principals of propulsion that allow us to visit and collect data from our galaxy.
CDOS: 1, 2 ; ELA: 1, 4 ; MST: 1(1,2), 4PS(2,3,4,5), 5(2), 7(1)
