Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellation Policy

  • Camps that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements are subject to cancellation. If we must cancel your camp, you will be notified two weeks prior to its start date and alternate camps may be suggested. If we are unable to accommodate a suitable transfer, a full refund will be issued.

Refund Policy

  • If withdrawal from camp(s) occurs prior to June 1, non-refundable processing fee of $50 for Full Day camps and $20 for Mini and Almost Camps will be retained.
  • If withdrawal from camp(s) happen after June 1 and up to 10 business days before the camp(s) starts, a deposit equal to half (50%) of the camp cost will be retained.
  • No refunds are given during the 10 business days before a camp starts or once your camp session begins. Fees will not be prorated due to absences or vacation schedules.

  • Fees will NOT be pro-rated or refunded for any missed days of a camp session. Absences cannot be made up by having your child attend another camp on a different day.

Behavior Policy

In order to provide all campers and staff with a positive and safe experience, it is important that all campers exhibit proper behavior and self-control.

Behaviors that violate our camp policy include, but are not limited to name-calling, bullying, fighting, foul language, reckless endangerment, leaving the group, stealing, and other disrespectful actions and are not tolerated at camp. Parents/Guardians will be contacted regarding all incidents involving endangering of self, staff, other campers, unsafe use of equipment and/or for chronic behavior incidents that cause disruption of the whole camp.

The Rochester Museum & Science Center’s Curiosity Camps Administration reserves the right, upon notification of both camper and parent, to dismiss that camper from the current and/or future camp sessions for conduct that is deemed detrimental to the well-being of other campers, staff, or to the overall operation of the camp. Refunds will not be given (for current or future camp sessions) if campers are dismissed from camp due to behavioral reasons.

Health Information & Allergy Awareness

If your child has a medical condition, severe allergies, dietary restrictions, or other special physical or behavioral needs, please note this during your registration. Contact us if you have special concerns.

  • If your camper requires any prescription medication during camp hours, it must be left with camp administration in its original containers with a doctor’s note giving camp administration permission to administer it.

  • If your camper has an allergy, please complete that section of the registration form in detail. Medications needed in an emergency (i.e. inhalers, EpiPens, Benadryl, etc.) are kept with the camper’s Instructor at all times during the day.

Special Needs

  • It is NOT possible for the RMSC to provide one-on-one care for your child while they are at camp. Notification of any accessibility concerns, behavioral, psychological or emotional concerns, or other special needs prior to your child’s first day of camp is very helpful.

What to Bring & Wear

  • All campers in Almost Camps and Full Day Camps will have a supervised 30-minute lunch. Lunch is NOT provided; please send a bagged lunch and a drink with your child. No refrigeration is available. Snack will be provided for all campers (including Mini Camps) each day. Campers with specific dietary needs or food allergies are encouraged to bring their own snack.
  • Wear closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing that can get messy.
  • The RMSC is not responsible for the loss, destruction or theft of any personal items (including clothing, book bags, purses, toys, games, electronic devices, cell phones or money) that your child may bring to camp. It is highly encouraged that these and other personal items stay at home.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Drop-Off and Pick-Up is located in the lobby of the Eisenhart Auditorium on the RMSC campus located at 657 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607.

  • Camp begins at 9am. All campers must be accompanied into the lobby each morning and signed in at the table for their camp.

  • Camp ends at 4pm. Once the instructor for your child’s camp is seated at their table, check-out will begin.
  • For safety, your camper will only be released to the individual(s) listed as the “Authorized Pick-Up Person” on the sign-in sheet. All individuals must present a photo ID every time they come to pick up a camper.
  • Campers remaining after 4:15pm will be placed in Extended Care and you will be charged accordingly.

Early Pick-Ups

Each camp features science lessons, hands-on projects and experiments along with time to explore the museum galleries and/or planetarium shows, and at least a 30-minute recess outside each day (weather permitting).

Age Groups

Age groups are established to ensure that campers have the best possible experience in regards to both appropriate educational content and socialization with their peers.

Field Trips

Some camp sessions include field trips. Information about dates and times will be provided during the camp week. Campers will be transported by bus. There is no camper pick-up at any field trip location.

Your registration implies permission to use photos/videos or your camper(s) for RMSC promotional purposes. If you DO NOT want your child photographed, please make it known on your registration form.
