Earth Tone

Earth Tone

Earth Tone was created in 2012 by Living Lenses, a small group of creatives who make art out of diverse mediums. The scu lpture, made of stainless steel, represents our Earth in a spiraling orbit around the sun and the galaxy. Visitors can ring the bell on top of the sphere, which simulates the Earth's fundamental vibration as it oscillates through space.

Head indoors for a different perspective from Earth Tone’s indoor component. On the second floor of the Museum, just outside of the Flight to Freedom: Rochester's Underground Railroad exhibit, there is a kaleidoscope looking out of a large window that visitors can spin to warp the view of the sculpture outside.
