February Break Curiosity Camps

The Greatest Adventure

Monday, Feb. 18–Friday, Feb. 22

Ages 6–11

Embark on some of the greatest adventures the world has ever known—both real and imagined—and discover science along the way. Each day will be a new journey as you blast off into space, travel through time, sail the seven seas, conquer the cold on a polar expedition, and venture into the wild to explore the animal kingdom. To survive each adventure, you’ll need to solve a special STEM challenge! 

Campers will be grouped by age with activities tailored to fit their age level. All Camp Programs include instructor led hands-on activities and exploration time in the museum’s galleriesRegister for the day or join us for the whole week. 

 

Important Information

  • Registration is required prior to the start of camp.
  • Check-In and Check-Out take place in the Museum lobby.
  • Program runs from 9am to 4pm
  • Campers must bring their own lunch.
  • Please see our Break Week Policies & Procedures for all the details.
  • All February Break programs take place indoors.
  • Extended care is available.

Monday, Feb. 18: High Seas Explorers

Some of history’s greatest adventurers have taken to the sea. Join their ranks and kick off our week of adventure by learning all about oceans, sea currents, aquatic life, and the mysteries of the deep. Build your own boat and use real-time satellite data to explore the seven seas in Science on a Sphere.

Tuesday, Feb. 19: Polar Expedition

Embark on an exhibition to the frozen world of the Arctic and Antarctic. Conquer the cold and learn about the tundra, polar ice caps, and permafrost. See what survives (and thrives!) in a frozen world blanketed by snow and experience ice in a whole new way as you enjoy a particularly frigid Live Science Show.

Wednesday, Feb. 20: Wildlife Trek

Travel to some of the most remote corners of our planet and discover the wildest and weirdest inhabitants of our world.   Venture deep into the rainforests; cross vast deserts; climb the highest mountains; and explore forests, grasslands and swamps. Walk on the wild side as you take in a special show from the Wildlife Rockstars and meet the animals that call RMSC home.

Thursday, Feb. 21: Time Travelers

The idea of traveling through time has captured imaginations for centuries. Now it’s your turn to take that epic journey. Marvel at the architecture of the ancient world, recreate renaissance inventions, and experience 1800s Rochester. Take a tour of the Native Peoples of North America exhibit and see some rarely displayed objects from the RMSC collection.

Friday, Feb. 22: Mission Space

50 years ago, mankind took one giant leap and completed the greatest adventure of them all. Retrace that epic journey: blast off into space, build your own lunar lander, and learn all about the moon. Take a tour of our solar system, reach for the stars, and take in a show at the Strasenburgh Planetarium.

Extended Care Options

Extended care options are available Monday through Friday. 

Before Care Session: 7:45 to 9am

After Care Session: 4 to 5:30pm

Cost per Session: $5/day or $20/week
