Warm up your winter at NordicFest! Join us as we celebrate winter recreation in all of its forms. Enjoy a host of family-friendly outdoor activities and craft your perfect snow day:

  • Get gliding with cross-country ski lessons, explore the outdoors with a guided snowshoe hike, or try a new form of winter fun with a beginner Ski Orienteering clinic led by Rochester Orienteering Club, or Snowga led by Yoga Revolution.
  • Rent skis or snowshoes and hit our groomed ski and snowshoe trails.
  • Families can enjoy Nordic-themed crafts, snow-activities, and a Jan Brett story walk
  • Warm up with hot drinks and baked goods for purchase or try our famous free popcorn!

Cross-country Ski Lessons

Learn the basics of cross-country skiing! Our expert instructor will have you gliding in no time. This 30-minute group lesson will explore basic how-tos like: weight transfer, diagonal stride, getting up after you fall, and more!

COST: $15 with your own gear; $25 with discounted CNC rental (does not include $5 event admission)

Snowga with Yoga Revolution

Take your practice beneath the pines with Snowga, an outdoor yoga experience led by Yoga Revolution. We will offer two 60-minute sessions held at 10:00am and 12:00pm. 

COST: $16 (event admission included)

Ski-O with Rochester Orienteering Club

Grab a map and hit the trails! The Rochester Orienteering Club will offer two ski orienteering clinics during NordicFest, along with beginner, intermediate, and advanced Ski-O courses. Perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to practice their orienteering skills. No special equipment is required and compasses will be available at registration for anyone who wants to borrow one. Registration is required due to limited group capacity.

Wild Walk: Snowshoe History & Hike

Snowshoe History & Winter Hike | Discover the history of the snowshoe and the various styles indigenous peoples created for travel over the winter terrain. Don a pair of traditional snowshoes, snow permitting, or hike with us on select trails.

Full Moon Ski

5pm - 7:30pm

Can't get enough of NordicFest? Stay after hours to glide down the Beaver Trail during this magical evening ski! This activity is perfect for intermediate or advanced skiers who are comfortable skiing without much visibility. Headlamps are strongly suggested! After your ski, warm up with a bonfire, free popcorn, and $1 hot beverages back at the nature center.

Ski and snowshoe rentals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for attendees to hit the trail and enjoy the nature center landscape. Snacks, baked goods, and hot drinks will be available for purchase back at the nature center. Bonfire, snow, and good company are all free!
