Maple Sugaring

Maple Sugaring

March 21-22 and March 28-29

A springtime tradition for many Western New York families, Maple Sugaring Weekends return.

Join us as we celebrate 41 years of serving up steaming-hot stacks of pancakes down at the beautiful Cumming Nature Center! Take in the gorgeous landscape; enjoy a hearty, locally sourced meal; and wander the trails. On the trail, learn how a tree makes sap and discover the different processing techniques while enjoying the outdoors.

*Our new exhibit, A Brush with Nature, will be opening on March 23rd, featuring regional artists who find their inspiration within nature.

Pancake Breakfast: 9am–1pm
(*Gluten-free pancakes available, a phone call in advance is greatly appreciated! 585.374.6160)

Trail Demonstrations: 10am–2pm

Maple Sugaring History: 9am–2pm | Ganondagan will join us to offer information about Native American maple sugaring traditions. Learn about these historic techniques and the tools used to process maple sugar, including pots, bark boats, and sugar molds. Make comparisons to these old ways and how maple syrup is created today. Are there similiarities? Differences? Representatives from Ganondagan will be on-site to answer questions.
