Review the three pillars of evidence that our universe is emerging from a Big Bang 13.8 billion years ago: redshifts of galaxies, the cosmic microwave background, and the ratio of helium to hydrogen in the universe.

Virtual Format: Teachers should plan to provide us a Zoom or Google meet link. We visit your classroom as a virtual guest.

  • Please note: some school internet systems require a change in settings to allow outside speakers. We recommend a five-minute test session a few days before your scheduled program to check the connection.
  • Teachers are responsible for moderating the chat and Q&A from students.

For content questions, contact Steve Fentress at sfentress@rmsc.org.

NYS Standards:
  • HS-ESS1-2. Construct an explanation of the Big Bang theory based on astronomical evidence of light spectra, motion of distant galaxies, and composition of matter in the universe.
