Build it Week!
The RMSC celebrates National Engineer Week! Learn about and meet animal engineers, visit with real engineers, and participate in a collaborative artist engineer project!

ACTIVITIES
12:30–2:30pm
- Meet and Greet Animal Engineers with Wildlife Rockstars: Learn about animals who engineer by making holes, creating dens, using tools, and more!
11am–3pm
- Artful Science: Build a larger-than-life collaborative sculpture with us using recycled materials. Watch as it transforms throughout the week! (Lobby)
- Mini Engineering Corner: Build your own mini nests and origami. (Life Science Lab)
- Visit with the Rochester Engineer Society: Discover the diverse disciplines of engineering! Meet local engineers and learn about what it means to be an engineer.
- Animal Engineers Scavenger Hunt: Search the Museum & Science Center to learn about animal engineers housed in the RMSC first floor.
- Tech Lab: Visit the Tech Lab to learn about high-tech manufacturing methods with live equipment demonstrations.

- Black Excellence in STEM: Learn about important figures in the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math with this listening station.
- Coloring Station: Take a break to sit at the Black History Month coloring station and learn about important historical figures from this week’s theme.
- Student Engineers*: Meet engineering and museum studies students from RIT and play with the new exhibit they are building about chameleons. Be part of their engineering process and help them make improvements! (ASL interpretation provided by NTID Student Interpreting Program)
1–2pm
- STEM Legends of Rochester: Join Joan Coles Howard & Stephanie Ball to learn about black innovators from Kodak, Xerox, Bausch and Lomb, General Motors, and other local legends who impacted STEM fields in Rochester.
11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm
- Black Excellence in STEM Storytime: Cozy up for story hour and listen to stories about activists and trailblazers who changed the world! (20-30 minutes each)
2–4pm
- Black Inventors: Engage in hands-on learning about black inventions and engineers. Learn about Marie Van Brittan Brown, inventor of the home security system by creating an alarm rug!
