ABOUT THE EVENT
Come out to the Cumming Nature Center for an uplifting musical afternoon with folk singer Travis Knapp.
Travis Knapp shows are vibrant with rich vocal harmonies, clawhammer banjo & soulful piano, joyful dance grooves, acoustic vibes, heartfelt stories, audience singing, gardening tips, bicycle touring tales, and sincerity, along with inspiration for being fully present in life with gratitude and wonder. His music weaves together personal and community growth with social justice and everyday spiritual practice.
The unique natural setting will be the perfect backdrop for a concert full of music celebrating all the beauty that surrounds us.
DETAILS
- The concert starts at 2:00pm – arrive early as seating is first-come, first-served
- We will have some chairs available, but you are welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs
- There will be two 40-45 minute sets, with an intermission in-between
- Travis will have albums (CD/vinyl), t-shirts, and dried herbal teas available for purchase
- Admission to the nature center is included in the price of your ticket, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a hike or picnic before the concert!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Travis Knapp is an Ithaca NY based folk songwriter whose uplifting and unexpectedly moving songs come to life with the support of dynamic vocals, piano, and old-time banjo.
Audiences will hear stories of the everyday, and of home – songs that live and breathe in the Finger Lakes. Clawhammer folk that forges a future centering the earth & each other, it is music to dig your feet into.
After studying as a piano accompanist at Ithaca College, Knapp took up clawhammer banjo and became a folk singer-songwriter. He has released five folk albums – with the latest “The Same Sun Rises” in September 2024 – and he has toured much of North America (often by bicycle). Travis Knapp shows encourage a lot of audience singing, and the messages are optimistic and spiritually inclined. Band configurations range from solo/duo/trio to large ensembles with string quartets & small choirs. Knapp also works as a studio musician in a variety of styles, primarily on the piano and as a vocalist. He accompanies singers as a staff accompanist at Ithaca College School of Music & Dance, serves as a music director for theater performances, and runs an organic farm that produces culinary herbs and herbal teas.
