About this workshop

Discover the natural pigments in petals and other plant matter as we make frameable artwork together. Using native flowers and greenery from the Cumming Nature Center along with locally sourced organic materials provided by the instructor, participants will learn how to express the natural dye compounds found in flowering plants and vines. We will imprint these onto pre-mordanted muslin for an organically “dyed” tapestry piece that will stay vibrant long after the snow comes back! Finished pieces can be displayed as a framed piece or worn as a clothing accessory. Participants will also practice and refine their technique using paper, and learn some basics of natural dye and mordant techniques.
