Earth Science

Grades 2-9
expedition earth
2-3pm
Get hands on with rocks, minerals, and fossils in order to discover the Earth Systems that shaped our local geology. From earthquakes to erosion, weathering, deposition, and tectonic plate movements, get up close and hands-on with how the ground beneath our feet has changed over time. Students will gain a deep understanding of the rock cycle as we uncover the “stories” behind how rocks were formed.
grades 1-6
plastics & Pollution
3-4pm
What’s in your water? In this program, students will learn real strategies and tools used by scientists to protect our planet’s water and the creatures that live in it from many types of pollution. Roll out an oil boom and send out some sorbents as you clean up an oil spill, use different solvents and techniques to rescue animals from polluted waters, and explore the challenges and possibilities of plastic pollution retrieval with density-based models.
Learn how you can be a part of local and global efforts to clean up our waterways, from reducing your pollution footprint to advocating for your community’s right to clean water!
