Celebrate Space Week at the RMSC! Celebrate all things celestial, create your own galaxy, learn about astronauts, and experience out-of-this world activities.

We’ll end the week with a whole day of activities to officially mark one year until the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse!


Space WEek Event Highlights

  • Artful Science: Learn about gigantic clouds of gas and dust in space that form nebulas, then create your own unique colorful galaxy spin art.
  • MARS Rocket: Meet the MARS Club to learn about their upcoming summer launches, view previous launches, and more. (April 7 and 8)
  • RIT Launch Initiative: Experience 11ft models of rockets, watch a model rocket dissection to learn about how they fly, and view footage from past launches!
  • Galactic Animals: Meet and greet with species of animals that have been part of space exploration! (April 6, 12:30–2:30pm)
  • Steminists Activities: Join the Cornell local chapter of Steminists for a virtual meet and greet! Learn about the Steminist Movement, join in some hands-on Space themed activities.
  • Tech Lab: Marvel at satellites being 3D printed in real-time and create and take a break to create galactic scratch art.
  • Science Encounter: Watch mini rockets blast off at the Science Encounter cart and learn what propels them!
  • Space Storytime: Cozy up for story hour and listen to stories about space exploration and astronauts!
  • NASA TV in the Bausch: Watch streaming coverage of launches, spacewalks, and other mission events.
  • Astronaut Hall of Fame: Play a matching game to learn about notable astronauts and their contributions to space exploration.

Special Eclipse Programming:

Saturday, april 8

  • Far Out: Experience a campus-wide demo of the sun, moon, and Earth in LARGE proportional scale. Except, this solar system model won’t take light years to travel to.*
  • Science on a Sphere: Experience our Science on a Sphere Data Theater’s spherical projection system through presentation topics such as Earth’s magnetic field, the moon, and the sun.
  • Tech Lab: Marvel at satellites being 3D printed in real-time and create and take a break to create galactic scratch art.
  • NASA TV in the Bausch: Watch streaming coverage of launches, spacewalks, and other mission events.
  • Astronaut Hall of Fame: Play a matching game to learn about notable astronauts and their contributions to space exploration.
