THE GULLY
In this immersive show, photographer Kirby Pilcher shares a series of photographs taken of Clark’s Gully over the course of three years.

In the fall of 2020, photographer Kirby Pilcher found himself visiting Naples NY on a weekly basis. Early on in these visits, he began photographing Clark’s Gully, a local waterfall located a few miles northeast of the town. Capturing images of the gully over time quickly became a self-described “pandemic project”, and Pilcher regularly photographed the waterfall and its surrounding landscape for the next two and a half years. The resulting show displays a mere fraction of the thousands of pictures taken by Pilcher over the course of this project.
Shaped by the flow of water and time, this collection of images captures the subtle beauty of the changing landscape. Through immersive wall displays, light-filled photographs, and a cascading waterfall collage, visitors are invited to wander through the familiar terrain of Clark’s Gully as seen through a photographer’s eyes.
This exhibit will be on display in the Hurst Gallery from January 7, 2023 until April 2, 2023.
