Animal Week at RMSC Generates Excitement About Furry and Feathered Friends During February Break

ROCHESTER, NY—Hop, slither or fly over to the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) during February break for the third annual Animal Week program, back by popular demand. Visitors discover amazing adaptations in the animal kingdom and experience new live animals up close each day from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, February 18 through Sunday, February 26.

As they roam through three floors of the transformed RMSC, guests of all ages discover some of the creatures that share Earth. Through an array of animal-themed, hands-on activities, visitors explore adaptations such as camouflage, hibernation and flight. Visitors have the opportunity to use their imagination to design their own animal, learn about challenges that animals face while trying to survive in their environment and participate in other intriguing activities. Featured animals include a grey kangaroo, silver fox and lemur, as well as various birds, invertebrates and reptiles. Representatives from Wildlife Defenders, World of Wildlife Educational Encounters (WOWEE) and the Seneca Park Zoo will bring a variety of live animals and give presentations.

In addition, the Carlson Inquiry Room, an area of RMSC not typically accessible to the public, will be open from 11am to 3pm each day of February break week. Visitors will be able to experience a variety of the Museum’s own live animals, including snakes, lizards and frogs.

The Animal Week program is free with regular museum admission: $14 adults, $13 seniors and college students with ID, $12 ages 3 to 18, free for children under 3 and RMSC members. Admission to the Elements of the Extreme exhibition, on display through April 23, is also free with regular museum admission. For group reservations and rates, call 585.697.1942.
