ROCHESTER, NY—Guests 21-and-older are invited to rocket on over to the party of the summer coming in for a landing at the Rochester Museum & Science Center—RMSC After Dark: Intergalactic. The stellar bash full of space science and out-of-this world entertainment takes place from 7pm through 11pm Friday, July 22 at the Museum, Strasenburgh Planetarium and outdoors.
Guests have the opportunity to:
- Enter a whole new galaxy with star and laser shows at the Strasenburgh Planetarium.
- Climb the Planetarium tower to get lost in the cosmos while looking through our high-powered telescope. The evening’s feature—Saturn!
- Orbit the illuminated outdoor areas and listen to the music of live band Bold Acquaintance.
- Channel your inner grade-school student and place the planets in our solar system in order and then make your own mini planetarium to take home.
- Get a sneak peek at our fall exhibition, Elements of the Extreme, with “The Unseen Sun” and other cool interactive activities.
- Discover how 3-D printing works (watch it make mini rockets!).
- Experience musical lightning in our Electricity Theater.
- See planets up close in Science On a Sphere.
- Engage with guests from RocCon! Rochester’s Comic Con and Pop Culture Convention Since 2010.
- Taste from food trucks Cheesed and Confused, Le Petit Poutine and The Original Mac & Cheez (the moon is made of cheese, isn’t it?).
- Sip drinks from cash bars.
- Enter with a big bang in your space-themed costume (encouraged).
The RMSC hosts several RMSC After Dark adult events throughout the year. Attendance nearly doubled between the first and second events and most events feature sold-out crowds. The theme of each event changes and activities are designed based on the science and history associated with the theme. Past themes include Maker’s Masquerade, Totally 80s, Monster Bash, Lights Out, Geek Chic Prom, Prehistoric Party, The Science of Sound, Carnival of Curiosity, Sci-Fi and Repeal: A Prohibition Era Event. Costumes are always encouraged.

Parking: We are installing eco-friendly porous pavement in our East Avenue/Goodman Street Lot. Plan to park in our lot behind the Strasenburgh Planetarium or any available on-street parking.
