ROCHESTER, NY—The RMSC Council, a volunteer service organization that supports the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC), is pleased to announce its second annual Dine & Discover luncheon at 12pm Friday, June 7, 2019. Dr. Rahul Gupta, a leader in the fight against the opioid crisis, will deliver the keynote address, What Exactly is the Opioid Crisis?
This event is open to the public.
Rahul Gupta, MD, MPH, MBA, FACP, is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical and Health Officer at March Of Dimes. As the former Health Commissioner in West Virginia, Dr. Gupta led the state’s opioid crisis response and launched a number of pioneering public health initiatives. Dr. Gupta was featured on WXXI’s airing of NOVA: Addiction.
A moderated panel discussion and audience Q&A will follow Dr. Gupta’s presentation. Panelists will include Dr. Gupta; Becky Baker, founder, S.O.A.R.S.; Hon. John DeMarco, Supervising Judge, Treatment Courts, Seventh Judicial District; Yana Khashper, founder, ROCovery Fitness; James Van Brederode, Gates Police Chief; and Mike Favata, Monroe County Sheriff Deputy. NOVA Deputy Executive Producer Julia Cort will serve as moderator.
Dine & Discover attendees will also have the opportunity to browse information tables staffed by event sponsors and community organizations active in the recovery movement, and to participate in NARCAN training provided by the Monroe County Office of Mental Health and Trillium Health.
