The RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium is excited to debut its newest immersive experience under the dome of the Planetarium’s Star Theater. Resolution: A Cinephonic Rhapsody for the Soul is a dome theater visual album experience based on The Polyphonic Spree’s latest record, Salvage Enterprise. This captivating visual odyssey unfolds around a glowing campfire, where each song reveals and explores the inner world of someone seated at its edge through visual storytelling.

The full-dome experience includes nine heartfelt songs from the 2023 album Salvage Enterprise by The Polyphonic Spree. This film celebrates and explores different animation styles for each song while communicating a broader story of hope and renewal, which is revealed through each song in the film. From soaring through canyons to flying ships in the clouds, racing puppets on RC cars, to drifting through psychedelic starscapes, every moment is a spectacular fusion of music, story, and wonder.

The creators of this experience welcome visitors to unplug and reconnect emotionally to music through intentional, immersive art. “Hope can be hard to grasp when it feels broken, fragile, or just out of reach. But even in life’s hardest moments, when everything feels uncertain, hope is never truly gone. It lingers in the background, waiting to be found again. And it’s this vital but sometimes difficult search for hope – the struggle to stay open, to keep believing, to keep reaching even when it feels impossible – that lives at the heart of Resolution.“

Rochester is one of the premier locations to experience this award-winning visual dome experience. Resolution was the first-ever dome film to win the Audience Award for Best Immersive Experience at SXSW. The project was also the first dome film considered for a 2025 Emmy Award for Outstanding Emerging Media Program and a 2025 Grammy Award for Best Music Film, cementing its place as a breakthrough in immersive storytelling.
