Holiday Cheer through Science and Culture at the Rochester Museum & Science Center

    ROCHESTER, NY—Visitors to the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) get into the holiday spirit while engaging in numerous hands-on holiday-themed science programs and activities. Events, which take place throughout December, include:

    Eddie the Elk and the Twelve Days of Christmas
    December 3, 4, 10, 11 and 17: 1pm and 3pm
    Location: RMSC Bausch Auditorium
    Enjoy what has become a holiday tradition of the RMSC Players!

    The Night Before Christmas
    Sunday, December 18: 1pm and 3pm
    Location: RMSC Bausch Auditorium
    This approach to the traditional “silent night” tale is different, though just as fun. What better way to spend the night before Christmas? This show is also presented by the RMSC Players.

    Holiday Science & Technology Days
    Monday, December 26–Friday, December 30: 11am–3pm
    Location: RMSC Museum
    An annual family favorite, Holiday Science & Technology Days brings visitors together as they join local scientists to explore the wonders of science and technology. Attendees will perform experiments in fields including engineering and chemistry. In addition, visitors have the opportunity to meet live animals, learn how to help protect the environment and take apart household electronics to examine what’s inside. Visitors are encouraged to return daily to spark their curiosity with different presenters. Presenters include (visit www.rmsc.org for updates):

    Holiday Laser
    Location: RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium
    An eclectic mix of holiday music accompanied by laser light and unique visual effects. Favorite holiday songs play back-to-back, choreographed with dancing laser light among the stars of the Planetarium sky. Produced at the Strasenburgh Planetarium, it’s a Rochester tradition for family, friends and out-of-town visitors. For all ages. Click here for the show schedule.

    Admission: adults $7; seniors, college students, students ages 5–18, RMSC members $6.

     

     

    Carol with the Coils
    Saturdays in December: 2pm
    Location: RMSC Electricity Theater
    Visitors are invited to participate in a fun holiday sing-along with the RMSC “singing” Tesla coils, and enjoy a special performance of “Carol of the Coils.”

     

    Kwanzaa: Celebration of Family, Community and Culture
    Tuesday, December 27: 2-5pm
    Location: RMSC Bausch Auditorium
    Presented by The Kwanzaa Coalition
