RMSC Launches Reimagined Brand, Including New Logo
ROCHESTER, NY, February 8, 2022 – The RMSC (Rochester Museum & Science Center) is excited to announce the launch of a new institutional brand, which goes into effect today. This brand revitalization includes important changes to streamline the RMSC in order to better serve the regional community with all of its offerings.
The RMSC brand gives the organization a simpler way to talk about itself and the related locations. The parent organization as a whole will primarily be referred to as the RMSC and its three specific locations will be referred to as: the RMSC Museum & Science Center, the RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium, and the RMSC Cumming Nature Center.
“We are fortunate to have three incredible locations within the RMSC family which enable us to fulfill our mission of inspiring a better future for all through curiosity, exploration, and participation in science, culture, and the natural world,” said Hillary Olson, President and CEO of the RMSC. “While many people know us as the ‘local science museum,’ not enough people know about our amazing cultural history collections, vast resources at the Nature Center, or the unique offerings at the Planetarium. Our new brand architecture will help convey the variety of resources and opportunities the RMSC has to offer.”
The new brand architecture, developed in partnership with Bachman Brand Development and The Martin Group, also includes new logos for the organization and a refreshed color palette.
“This is a new way of talking about the RMSC and viewing the organization, but it’s not a new way of thinking about the organization. For more than 100 years, the RMSC has been serving our community, creating immersive environments where visitors actively engage with and answer to their curiosity,” said Carolyn Stiles, Director of Marketing at the RMSC. “In the next 100 years, we’ll continue to serve as the hub of discovery, breaking down complex science concepts, acting as a portal to cultures different than our own, and igniting excitement for learning.”
The new RMSC brand also includes an updated mission statement, institutional values, and strategic plan, which was adopted in October 2020. Prior to this rebrand, the last significant change to the RMSC brand occurred in 2016.
