Outdoor Adventures at Nordic Fest—Genesee Valley Ski Patrol Fundraiser at Cumming Nature Center

    ROCHESTER, NY—Children and adults have the opportunity to explore the outdoors while raising necessary funds for the Genesee Valley Ski Patrol – the organization that patrols the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) Cumming Nature Center (CNC) ski trails throughout January and February to ensure the safety of visitors. The event, Nordic Fest, takes place from 11am to 2:30pm on Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19.

    Nordic Fest attendees can meet members of the Genesee Valley Ski Patrol, learn about volunteer opportunities, and enjoy locally sourced chili (grass-fed beef and sustainably-raised pork with vegetarian option available) and homemade baked goods for purchase. Weather permitting, ski and snowshoe trails will be open with rentals available. In addition, visitors are welcome to participate in a 10K Snowshoes Race on Saturday (click here to register) and a Ski Orienteering Event by Rochester Orienteering Club on Sunday (details here.) Representatives from LL Bean, The North Face, and the Scandinavian Heritage Society and Sons of Norway Lodge 3-433 will be in attendance.

    Admission to Nordic Fest: RMSC members free; General public donation requested—$3 per person; $10 per family. All hikes/programs are free with admission.

    CNC is a dynamic, 900-acre environmental education facility that celebrates the unique landscape and culture of the Finger Lakes region through experiential learning opportunities and thoughtful exhibits. Trails are open five days a week: Wednesday through Friday, 9am-3:30pm; Saturday and Sunday, 9am-4:30pm (closed Monday and Tuesday).
