RMSC Exhibit Tours for Adults resume July 10

    Summer series to feature popular Science on a Sphere exhibit!

    ROCHESTER, NY—Adult lifelong learners are invited to attend a series of expert-led Exhibit Tours for Adults at the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) on select Tuesdays at 2pm. Each 50-minute session, open to adults only, explores a featured RMSC exhibit in greater depth. July and August tours will feature the popular Science on a Sphere, a 3-D exhibit that allows visitors to engage in the wonders of our planet and beyond as they explore land, oceans, the atmosphere, and more.

    Summer 2018 topics and details are as follows:

    Tuesday, July 10, 2pm: Physics and Findings of Apollo Moon Voyages

    Take a closer look at the launch, voyage, and landing on a mission to the moon. Explore the landing sites and discoveries of the Apollo missions.

    Tuesday, July 24, 2pm: Mantle Convection and Natural Disasters

    Heat flow within the Earth’s mantle causes movement of the Earth’s crust, which creates geological features and natural disasters. Examine patterns of volcanoes, hotspots, and earthquakes.

    Tuesday, August 7, 2pm: Deep Sea Vents: Life at the Extreme

    Smoke, fire, and darkness encompass a hydrothermal vent. Take a dive into the deep ocean to learn about life that exists in this extreme environment.

    Tuesday, August 21, 2pm: Tracking a Tropical Cyclone

    Discover how tropical cyclone observations were made through history. Observe patterns of this storm through satellite imagery.

    Admission to Exhibit Tours for Adults: $3 for RMSC members, $18 for adults, and $17 for seniors and college students with ID. Group rate: $10 per person (group of more than six visitors). No children’s tickets are sold for these tours. To register, call 585.697.1942 by 4:30pm the day before the tour.

    Science On a Sphere is an interactive globe and three-dimensional data projection system that transforms real-time data from our Earth and other planets into striking graphic representations with stunning detail and accuracy. The exhibit is sponsored by O’Connell Electric Company and Harris Beach PLLC.
