Support the RMSC During the Innovation Celebration Fundraising Gala

ROCHESTER, NY, October 8, 2020 – Igniting curiosity in the minds of visitors is what the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) does best. The support the institution receives from the community allows the RMSC to continue providing the highest-quality STEAM educational experiences.

The RMSC’s annual Innovation Celebration Gala is one of the most important fundraising events for the non-profit, and this year it’s going virtual. On Saturday, October 17, at 7pm, the community is invited to tune-in to a free live stream of the gala on the Museum’s Facebook page

While the event itself is free, the RMSC is selling tickets for the gala which entitles attendees to a gourmet meal and dessert, available for pick-up the night of the gala. Each ticket purchase helps directly support the RMSC in its efforts to inspire a new generation of innovators and changemakers, and tickets will be available through Wednesday, October 7, on the RMSC website.

“Innovation Celebration is so important to us. It is our largest fundraiser each year, but also it allows us a moment to appreciate our supporters and celebrate our work. We decided to view the challenges of this year as an opportunity to open this celebration to more of our community and let everyone participate in the experience,” said Brandon Swain, Community Engagement & Special Events Manager at the RMSC.

This year’s gala theme is Periodic Elements of Change and will focus on women in STEAM and the profound impacts they’ve had in their field. The gala will also celebrate some of the many impactful women being featured in the Museum’s upcoming exhibition, The Changemakers: Rochester Women Who Changed the World

During the event, attendees can look forward to seeing a fun science experiment demonstration that people can follow along with at home, participating in the institution’s silent and premiere auctions, and hearing remarks from four Changemakers featured in the upcoming exhibition: Nancy Gong, Wanda Martinez-Johncox, Pamela Melroy, and Luticha Doucette.

“We’re excited to be highlighting and honoring women in STEAM as we look forward to the opening of our new community-curated exhibition and celebrate the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment and commemoration of the women’s suffrage movement,” said Swain.
