Women’s Council 45th Annual Holiday Bazaar Arts & Crafts Sale at Rochester Museum & Science Center

ROCHESTER, NY—The Women’s Council, a volunteer service organization that supports the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC), presents its 45th annual Holiday Bazaar Arts & Crafts Sale. The bazaar features more than 200 elite fine artists and craftspeople filling the Museum galleries and Eisenhart Auditorium at the RMSC on:

    • Friday, November 20: 5-9pm
    • Saturday, November 21: 9:30am-5pm
    • Sunday, November 22: 11am-4pm

Vendors are juried, and only the best are chosen to appear in the show and must display items that they produced themselves. As a result, a spectacular variety of carefully selected exhibitors showcase creative, unique items such as ceramics, jewelry, glass, woodwork, photography, painting, prints, sculpture, fiber arts and mixed media in this sale. Vendors come from across the region.

“The Holiday Bazaar provides a wonderful opportunity for shoppers to purchase high quality art and holiday gifts in a beautiful venue,” said Christine DeTurck, Women’s Council member and co-chair for the Holiday Bazaar committee. “The RMSC campus is an ideal space for this show and attendance continues to grow as word spreads. We are excited for our 45th year.”

Food and beverages are available in the Cunningham House studio, an area not usually open to the general public. The Regency style dwelling, which is home to the RMSC’s administrative offices, was originally constructed in 1880 and purchased by the Cunninghams in 1916. A wing was added to the house to serve as Mrs. Cunningham’s studio—as she was a professional artist and patron of the arts. It is fitting that the studio doors be open to visitors during the three-day art event at the Museum. Other highlights include a used book sale and door prizes.

One of the longest running arts and crafts festivals in the Rochester region, the RMSC Women’s Council Holiday Bazaar began 45 years ago as a modest “Christmas Stocking Stuffer Sale.” The Bazaar attracted approximately 8,000 shoppers last year, and is the Women’s Council’s most successful fundraising event.

Admission is $5 per person; $7 for a two-day pass per person; and Children 12 and under are free. RMSC members receive half price on Friday night.

NOTE: Museum exhibits will be unavailable during the run of the Holiday Bazaar Arts & Crafts Sale, as galleries will be filled with arts and crafts exhibitors.

The Women’s Council is a volunteer service organization that supports the RMSC with special events and fundraising activities. Founded in 1941, the council is dedicated to providing members with opportunities for educational growth and social interaction.
