Guided Programs
Book a private, guided program for your group led by an experienced CNC educator! Programs include Beaver Ecology, Animal Tracking, Maple Sugaring and more.

Embark on a journey of discovery and exploration with your group at the Cumming Nature Center. Look below at the guided program options available for your group. We serve everyone from scouts to homeschool groups, from family to friends!
In each program, you will dive into the topic of your choice with a CNC educator. Your group will learn new things and follow your curiosities out on the trails and streams!

guided program options

BEAVER ECOLOGY
Explore the lives of beavers, their various adaptations, and their impacts to our environment. Join a guided hike to discover beaver lodges, beaver dams, and other signs of beavers in our woods.
For all ages | 1.5 hours | available all year
plant & animal adaptations
Explore the woods with a CNC educator to learn more about local plants, animals, and other critters. Discover what unique defense mechanisms and adaptations they use to protect themselves!

streams & watersheds
Follow Briggs Creek through the CNC woods to see how it changes and look for signs of stream health. Discuss where the water is coming from, where it is going, and why this matters!
Ages 4+ recommended | 1.5 hours | available in the summer (June-August)
autumn in the forest
Explore what causes seasons and discover the seasonal changes we see in the forest. Join a guided hike through the CNC woods to look for signs of fall!
For all ages | 1.5 hours | available in the fall (September-October)


animal tracking
What animals have been in our woods, and how do we do know? Learn to find signs of animals, such as paw prints, habitats, food storage locations, and more!
Ages 4+ recommended | 1.5 hours | available in the winter (January-February)
amphibians
Join a CNC educator on a hike through our trails looking for amphibians and learning about their life cycles! We will search for salamanders and frogs along the trails, creeks, and in the ponds.
For all ages | 1.5 hours | available in the spring (May-June)


maple sugaring
Hike down the maple sugaring trail and explore the sugarhouse alongside a CNC educator. Learn about the history of making maple syrup from the Haudenosaunee, to the American pioneers, to modern day methods!

Each guided program costs $10/person with a minimum of $80, for one and half hours. An $80 non-refundable deposit is due two weeks before the program, and the remaining payment is due on or before the program date. Payment can be made with cash or check in-person, or with a credit card in-person or over the phone. For organizations or businesses, please reach out if alternative payment options are requested.
Please contact us no later than three weeks in advance to reserve your program. Guided programs are based on availability.

The Cumming Nature Center has two amazing facility rental options to turn this program into an event! Check out our beautifully rustic pavilion or our downstairs multi-purpose room available for rent.
